Introducing our Board of Trustees
The following parents were elected onto the Pillans Point School Board of Trustees in May 2010.
Bryce Lawrence – Chairperson
It gives me great pleasure to lead the Pillans Point School Board of Trustees (BOT). The current Board has an outstanding mix of people and skill sets, from legal to building, from finance to public relations to education – the school community is extremely well served by a group of skilled professional people who see their role as a voluntary way to ‘give back to the school community’.
We have had one daughter move through Pillans Point and move onto Otumoetai Intermediate and currently have another daughter attending school. My wife Clare and I have been thrilled with the education and care they have received.
I have a background in education and have taught 5yr olds through to intermediate age pupils. I have also been a school principal. I am passionate about NZ children having great access to a great education.
My role as Chairperson is to oversee the strategic direction of the school, manage the performance of the school leaders and to support the whole staff/community. I meet regularly with the school principal, chair meetings, assist fellow BOT members with their roles where needed, and represent the BOT/school at events when required. From time-to-time I am away overseas with rugby refereeing commitments and during these periods Kathryn Lellman, the BOT’s deputy chairperson, takes over my role.
I am delighted to support the school and welcome any new or current parents to contact me on bryce.lawrence@nzrugby.co.nz if they’d like more information about the great things that happen at Pillans Point School.
Kathryn Lellman – Deputy Chair
This is my second term on the Board of Trustees. I am the Deputy Chair and am responsible for legal issues for the Board.
My Husband Fraser and I have 2 children; Ellen has been right through Pillans Point School and is now in Year 8. Fergus is in Year 5. They have both had lots of great opportunities at the school. Fraser also went to Pillans Point School – a long time ago now!
I am a partner in my own law firm and have a busy family law practice.
I value the opportunity to be a part of the Pillans Point School community and to support the excellent work done by our staff so that Pillans Point children can have the best education available and become lifelong learners.
